Jason Allen, the Dolphins’ first-round draft pick, recently had an arthroscopic knee Surgery but will be ready for the opening of training camp on July 28, according to his agent, Mitch Frankel.
“It was just a cleanup procedure, nothing more,” Frankel said. “His rehabilitation is going well. If camp started today, he would be ready.”
Frankel said that he and the team would begin serious negotiations on Allen’s contract soon. Allen, the No. 16 pick, could help immediately at safety. Running back Ronnie Brown, last year’s first-round selection, was a three-week holdout.
“We have talked one time,” Frankel said, “but I’m optimistic. Both sides are committed to getting it done.”
